The French Coq ~ A Logo Design

August 14, 2011 by natalie

This is a Logo Design created for a French Restaurant.

The restaurant was located in Victoria, BC, and was to serve all meals of the day; Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. There were to be different menus and a different vibe for both the day and the evening. The logo was intended to be used for signage, menus, and all of the branding.

The sign was to be woodcut.

A logo with a lot of texture and detail would show off the wood, and as well, give off a warm organic aura to help it feel more inviting. Also it would reflect the vibe of the rugged West Coast.

The French Coq in the logo was intended to demonstrate pride for French Culture.

Blue, White and Red was used at the owners request to reflect the France Flag. The French Coq is an unofficial symbol of France and this is why the owner chose this for the logo.

The Day menu was to be fresh, lively and bright.

The Evening menu was to be dark, yet still lively, as there was to be live entertainment.
